Notts County vs Exeter City Predictions

Notts County looked down and out just a month or so ago, but things can change very quickly in League 2 and now, heading into the business end of the season, they find themselves with genuine hope of survival.

Last weekend they played out a goalless draw with Morecambe to make it three wins, three draws, and three defeats from their last nine games in League 2. Considering they had won just one of their previous 13 outings prior to that, it’s a very good turnaround from them.

Still, Notts County remain rock bottom of the League 2 ladder. However, on a more optimistic note they are now only three points adrift of safety and are level on points with 23rd placed Macclesfield. If they can keep this sort of form up there is a good chance they can avoid relegation this season.

Exeter City are aiming for some loftier ambitions when compared to their hosts. They come into their 38th League 2 game of the season occupying the last of the playoff spots, but with just a point separating them from the two sides below them it’s going to be a real battle to hang on.

Last weekend saw them clinch a potentially crucial win against fellow playoff contenders Colchester at home, but their recent form isn’t very good at all. They have only won two of their last seven matches in League 2, losing three times in the process.

Away from home they are actually quite adept at avoiding defeat, but this does come at the expense of important victories. They have lost just five of their 18 trips away in League 2, but seven of the other 13 matches have ended as stalemates.

The main problem for Exeter City is their lack of goalscoring form on the road, and along with their tight back line this has led to a number of low scoring matches. Just five of their 18 away days this season have seen three of more goals scored, including just three of their last 12.

Notts County have also seen an increase in low scoring games since they managed to bolster their back line. In fact, six of their last seven home matches have seen fewer than three goals, and the last two outings have ended goalless. This makes a bet of Under 2.5 Goals look very promising alongside a 0-0 bore draw score prediction.
