Notts County vs Lincoln City Predictions

Lincoln City have a pretty commanding lead at the top of League Two at the moment but they know that they have little time to rest on their laurels if they are to finish off the campaign as champions in England’s fourth tier. It is fair to say that when you looked at who would have been likely to have been competing with them for that title, Notts County would certainly been in the conversation. Although the season has not gone to plan for the Magpies, they do have the opportunity to have their say in the title race this weekend as they welcome the league leaders in a vital contest at both ends of the table.

Poor Notts County are eight points from safety in League Two after their run of games without a win extended to seven a fortnight ago. At the start of the season the Magpies looked like they had strengthened well and, on paper at least, had a squad which was expected to challenge for the title. However, they have not mixed well but, although the writing seems like it is on the wall, with the January recruits providing some strengthening, they will be hopeful of performing a great comeback in the closing months of the campaign.

Lincoln City remain in the driving seat in the League Two promotion push despite conceding three goals in a draw with close rivals Bury. The Imps are four points clear of Mansfield Town in second place and they also hold a game in hand over their closest rivals. With the side also undefeated in their last six league matches and all cup distractions now out of the way, there seems little top stop them claiming the title at the end of the campaign.

A top versus bottom contest can often shock punters as the struggling side often raise their game and prove difficult to crack, however, Lincoln City appear to be just too strong for their out of form hosts. The Imps have been excellent right throughout the season and their dominance in the division should continue this weekend. With this in mind, we think that backing an away win makes perfect sense for this fixture.
