Notts County vs Stevenage Predictions

It has been far from the perfect start to the season for Notts County and that poor start to the campaign has seen them move on to their second manager of the season. County failed to win in their first outing under their new management but they will be hoping to begin their fightback this weekend as they welcome Stevenage to Meadow Lane.

Although they claimed a point on the opening day, the hosts currently find themselves at the foot of the League Two table as they have gone on to lose each of their next six outings. Now under the stewardship of former Crawley boss, Harry Kewell, the Magpies know that they will have to improve defensively if they are to start climbing the table. The fact that they have conceded two goals or more in each of their last six league matches and have the worst defensive record in the league shows the level of recovery which is going to be required.

Making the trip to Meadow Lane is a Stevenage side who have had a solid, if a little unspectacular start to the campaign so far. The visitors sit firmly in mid table and even though they have one of the better defensive records in the division, their goal output means that they have failed to put points on the board in matches where they might have expected to earn all three.

Life under new management can take a while to see positive results, and with Notts County’s problems at the back being so large, it is hard to see how they will be able to turn it around so suddenly. With this in mind, we think it is extremely unlikely that they will be able to keep a clean sheet. However, their offensive capabilities should be feared at this level and with this in mind, we think that there should be goals in this clash and backing there to be over 2.5 goals scored looks to be the way to go.
