Oldham vs Yeovil Town Predictions

At the time of writing, Oldham Athletic are still without a permanent manager, however, that all looks set to change as former Manchester United and England star, Paul Scholes, is expected to be unveiled as the man in charge. Scholes was cleared to take charge of the League Two club after an English Football League meeting on Friday. The 44-years-old owns a 10% stake in National League club Salford City along with five former Manchester United team-mates. However, a holding of 10% or less in a club is disregarded, providing it is held “purely for investment purposes”.

This Tuesday could well be Scholes’ first match in charge and he takes over a club well short of form after losing three of their last four outings. However, the hosts turned their fortunes on its head at the weekend as they were dominant in a 3-0 victory away at Crawley. That result shows that there is quality in the squad, but with nine points to make up on the play-off places, it would take a remarkable shift in momentum if they are to accomplish a spot in the end of season shoot-out at the end of the campaign.

Making the trip to Boundary Park and with every intention of spoiling any potential homecoming party is a Yeovil Town side who are also well off the boil at the moment. The visitors have managed a poultry two wins in their previous 16 outings in all competitions and they are in the midst of a relegation dog fight at the moment. It’s not as if things are looking up anytime soon either, as they have lost each of their last four outings, scoring just one goal in the process.

Whilst the home side may not be at the top of their game at the moment, the form of the visitors is just too hard to ignore. When you also factor in the potential new manager bounce that could be expected if Scholes’ appointment is confirmed, then it is hard to look at anything other than three points for the hosts in this match, and it is here where we shall be placing our money.
