Orlando City vs Colorado Rapids Predictions

Orlando City go in search of their first home win of the season this weekend, while their guests Colorado Rapids have failed to win any of their opening five matches. Both teams are looking to get back on track this weekend after suffering defeats last time out, but confidence is bound to be low in both camps after a poor run of results.

Orlando City will have been disappointed not to have taken something from their last game at home to DC United, after the hosts had 62% of the possession and twelve shots to their guests three. However, DC United scored twice in the first half and even though Dwyer pulled a goal back in the sixty-third minute Orlando City could not carve out an equaliser. Colorado Rapids were thrashed 4-1 in their own backyard by Houston Dynamo last weekend, conceding three goals in the first half, two of which were own goals. Kamara pulled a goal back from the penalty spot in the eighty-first minute, but by that time the damage had already been done.

The head to head record between these two sides and their starts to the 2019 MLS season, suggests that both teams have a good chance of scoring this weekend and that the most likely result is a going to be a home win for Orlando City. Both teams have scored in three of the six meetings between these two clubs, and Orlando City have won four of those encounters. Five of Orlando City’s and five of Colorado Rapids’ last six matches have also seen both teams score. Neither side have started the season well, but Orlando City do at least have one win on the board already, and with the home advantage we’re backing the favourites to pick up their first home win of the campaign.

Dwyer is Orlando City’s danger man, as he was last season, with three goals in the MLS already, while Kamara top scores for Colorado Rapids with two goals from the opening five matches. We’re confident that both teams will score on Sunday, and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-1 in favour of Orlando City. The hosts have a good record against their guests, but both teams have been scoring and conceding goals on a regular basis so far this season. Colorado Rapids have already lost three of their opening five matches this season, and we’re expecting another defeat on Sunday.
