Pescara vs Genoa Predictions

Genoa travel to bottom side Pescara on Sunday, but the visitors are a lot closer to the relegation than they should be. The Rossoblu made a strong start to the season, but that feels like a long time ago now. They’ve fallen down to 16th in Serie A, which has to worry them. While there’s little chance of Ivan Juric’s side dropping down to Serie B, there still has to be some serious concerns for the away side. Their collapse in form will look even worse if their winless streak continues at bottom side Pescara.

This is a clash between two of the most out of form sides in Italy. They’ve taken just three points combined across their last eight matches, which is an embarrassing record. Genoa are currently without a win in their last nine matches in all competitions, losing seven of those outings. Meanwhile, Pescara have now gone 22 games without a win, which has seen them drop to bottom of the table, and they’re set for a quick return to Serie B.

Both sides are abysmal at the back, with Pescara conceding 2.25 goals per game at home. Genoa have conceded 1.92 per away trip, which puts them in danger of being the first side to lose at this ground this season. While the hosts aren’t winning games, they are at least pushing for results and playing entertaining football. While their attacking style cost Massimo Oddo his job earlier this week, the Delfini are set to continue attacking.

Pescara’s results of late have showed their attacking intent. However, that’s seen them leak far too many goals at the back. A 6-2 loss at home to Lazio was followed up by a 5-3 loss at Torino. That has us expecting goals here, seeing as both are too open at the back to keep the score down. Genoa have conceded two or more goals in five of their last six games, so they’re in a similar boat to the home side.

Genoa need to watch out for Pescara, who have found the net in four of their last five home games. The Delfini have also scored twice in their last three matches at home to Genoa. The visitors have hit seven goals in their last five matches, so they should be able to get on the score-sheet here. After all, the hosts have conceded 22 times in their last six outings. There should be goals in this clash, so we’re going with both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 21/20 with bet365. That’s happened in four of the last six encounters between these two, so we’re backing a repeat.
