Plymouth vs Wimbledon predictions for Saturday’s League One fixture at Home Park. After earning some well-needed respite in the week, the hosts will be hoping for another positive result. Continue reading below for all our free tips and predictions.

Reason For Plymouth Argyle vs AFC Wimbledon Betting Tips

After suffering a third loss in a row when losing at home to Doncaster last weekend, Plymouth went into Tuesday’s game away at Barnsley needing a reprieve, and despite it seemingly inconceivable prior to kick off, the Pilgrims left Oakwell with a point. After such a pleasing result, Derek Adams’ men will be hoping to gain their first win of the season when they welcome Wimbledon to Home Park on Saturday afternoon.

Plymouth may have withheld the pressure at Barnsley on Tuesday night, securing a pleasing draw in the process, but they were lucky to do so. Once again, the Pilgrims offered little going forward, so much so that they weren’t good value for their goals, while they gave away more than enough to lose the game. Nine times out of ten, Barnsley would’ve won that game with a degree of comfort, so too much probably shouldn’t be made of the result.

On their own patch, Plymouth haven’t fared as badly going forward as you would expect a team in their position to, or at least their performances haven’t been bad. The Pilgrims have scored five of their eight goals on home soil, while they probably should’ve had a few more since they’ve got an accumulated expected goals total of 7.0 at Home Park.

However, Plymouth would need to be the best attacking team in the division to offset their defensive antics. Adams’ men have shipped eleven goals in five games at home, while they’ve conceded ten expected goals, which frankly is nowhere near good enough.

Wimbledon may not be the most glamorous side in the division, while they’re never going to be the biggest scorers, but they should fancy themselves to do some real damage at Home Park on Saturday.

The results of Neal Ardley’s men on the road haven’t been too bad, while their overall performances away from home have been more than reasonable too. They’ve scored just three goals which is poor, but they’ve only conceded five, while the underlying numbers, which have the Dons at 5.5 expected goals on the road, suggest that perhaps they’ve been unlucky not to score a few more.

From a betting point of view, the selection that stands out is ‘Over 2.5 Goals & Both Teams to Score’. The hosts have been terrible at the back, though they have offered something going forward at home, while if Wimbledon can’t do very well against this Plymouth back-line, then something isn’t quite right.

With Plymouth seeing an average of 3.4 expected goals in front of their own fans this season, a high-scoring game is worth supporting.

Head to Head

Plymouth have won each of the last two renewals of this fixture, though they had lost three on the bounce against Wimbledon prior to that. Last season, Plymouth beat AFC Wimbledon by four goals to two at this venue.
