PSV Reserves vs Roda JC Predictions

Eerste Divisie top scorers Jong PSV drew a blank on match day 25 as they were beaten 0-2 at home by leaders Twente, but Dennis Haar’s charges should find more joy in front of goal this week as they take on a Roda JC side who they overcame 2-3 in October’s reverse fixture. The visitors kept a clean sheet with a 1-0 home victory against Cambuur last week, but they still have plenty of questions to answer defensively after conceding 11 in their previous four league games.

Jong PSV have risen to 5^th in Eerste Divisie over the past few weeks, and in truth their defeat to Twente on Monday night was no real disgrace.

The fixture was rerouted to FC Eindhoven’s Jan Louwers Stadion to accommodate Twente’s large army of travelling supporters, and the Enschede outfit are simply a cut above the rest in the second tier, as their nine match winning streak implies.

Jong’s aim this term is to at least match their 5^th place finish in 2017/18 and overtake Jong Ajax as the best reserve team in Eerste Divisie, and overall they’re doing an excellent job on both fronts.

Jong had lost just one of their previous 13 matches (winning eight) going into their match day 25 encounter with Twente, and they’ve mostly been a nightmare for the teams who are eligible for promotion to Eredivisie.

Haar’s side have emphatic victories against the likes of Go Ahead Eagles (5-1) and RKC (3-5) on their dance card this season, and they bested Molenaar’s Roda 2-3 in October thanks to goals from Mauro Junior, Matthias Verreth and Ramon Lundqvist – three of a whopping 56 that they have netted in total this term.

Back in the more familiar surroundings of De Herdgang Training Complex this Friday where they have won seven, drawn three and lost two of their 12 outings this season, Jong should return to their formidable and flowing best against the Kerkrade outfit.

Roda responded to consecutive league defeats with a narrow 1-0 success at home to Cambuur last week, but they were played off the park for long periods after taking the lead four minutes in through Livio Milts.

Their 5-1 hammering at Jong Ajax a fortnight ago is still pretty fresh in the memory, and they travel to Eindhoven having picked up just four points from their last five away matches.

With that in mind, Jong look extremely well priced here at around the 6/5 mark – especially after turning Roda over at Parkstad Limburg Stadion when the sides last met.

Whilst Roda’s clean sheet on match day 25 will give them confidence, their rear guard is still highly suspect after conceding 11 in their last five and 11 in their last five away, and Eerste Divisie’s best forward line could have a field day.

We’re recommending a three point stake on the hosts for this one then, and we’re also chancing a 4-1 scoreline. Whilst the league positions suggest that this should be close, we think Jong are far too good in attack and they can expose Roda’s clear defensive inefficiencies to land an emphatic three points.
