PSV Reserves vs Sparta Rotterdam Predictions

Sparta Rotterdam eased to a 3-1 home success against second bottom Helmond Sport on Friday to bounce back from last Sunday’s woeful 1-4 defeat to Oss at Het Kasteel, and Henk Fraser’s side will now be gunning to win their remaining fixtures in preparation for the Play-offs in May. Their last three games all come against reserve sides, starting with arguably their toughest test against 5th placed Jong PSV at De Herdgang on Easter Monday.

Despite challenging for the title and being in the top three for the majority of the campaign, Sparta have largely been a team to avoid on the road this term from a betting perspective.

Henk Fraser’s charges have only been defeated three times on their travels from 17 outings (only leaders Twente have lost fewer) however they have registered just five wins with nine of their away fixtures ending all square.

Many of those fixtures which Sparta have failed to win have been against much inferior opposition, and that’s crucially the reason why they have been unable to land a significant blow on Twente in the second half of the season, with the Enschede outfit now having racked up 12 wins from their 17 away assignments in comparison.

Nonetheless, Sparta’s low ratio of losses on the road makes them equally hard to oppose in the match betting and that’s definitely the case this Monday when they face Jong PSV, as they head to Eindhoven unbeaten in their last eight on the road.

Jong have had a fantastic campaign overall and look set to equal the 5th place finish which they achieved in 2017/18, however their form has rather tailed off in recent weeks.

Friday’s 2-1 defeat against Go Ahead Eagles at De Adelaarshorst was the third reverse in four league games for Dennis Haar’s charges, and there’s a bit of a question mark surrounding their motivation at present as the season draws to a close.

On their day, Jong can be explosive and brilliant as their 72 goal haul this term implies, but their latest displays have been undoubtedly flat and it’s hard to envisage them having the toughness required to see off Sparta here.

The visitors can’t be backed at odds-on though based on the fact that they have ultimately failed to win 12 of their 17 away matches this term, so instead we’re recommending an investment in over 2.5 goals with both teams to score.

That’s been the outcome in four of Jong PSV’s last five games, whilst 80% the hosts’ matches this term have produced more than three goals. These sides rarely fail to hit the net with Jong scoring in 88% their fixtures and Sparta in 82% theirs, so this wager looks well worth a three point stake alongside a poke at 2-2 in the correct score market.
