Randers vs Agf Predictions

This Sunday’s game in the Danish Superliga sees two sides who have made comparable starts meet. Four games in, AGF have 6 points on the board compared to Randers’ 5 and the victors here could really shoot up the table and potentially gatecrash the top four, depending on other results this weekend.

That would be a huge improvement on last season for either side and a top six finish would be a real achievement for either this term. Randers finished 2nd bottom in the regular season last term but ended up narrowly avoiding the drop thanks to a late season charge and a few play-off wins. They’ve largely built on that this term and are unbeaten since an opening day defeat to Brondby, one of the main title contenders.

AGF’s story is pretty similar. They finished down in 10th last season leading them into the relegation round but they beat the drop with some ease in the end. They’ve been very solid so far this term, and are one of just two teams who are yet to taste defeat so far in the Danish Superliga, with leaders Brondy being the other.

However it is worth noting that AGF haven’t exactly been setting the world on fire either. 3 of their 4 matches have been drawn and all of their games have produced under 2.5 goals. Only a 1-0 win against SønderjyskE last time out ended their sequence of three straight draws to start the season and they only have 3 goals to their name so it has been fairly cautious stuff from them.

Therefore a fairly cagey affair is very possible here too. Randers have also drawn 2 of their last 3 matches and aren’t showing enough to suggest they will make home advantage pay here. 44% of their regular season home fixtures last term also finished level and another point here would be no disaster for them. That would mean just 1 defeat from their opening 5 matches, a big improvement for a side that flirted dangerously with relegation last term.

The visitors may be marginally the stronger side but with them finding maximum points hard to come by, going for a Draw could be the smart move here.

The low scoring nature of AGF matches so far this term suggests going for a 1-1 Draw is worth a punt in the Correct Score market.
