Both Teams To Score and Over 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in three of Real Betis’ last four home league games and also in Villarreal’s last three away games in La Liga. Meanwhile, all six of Villarreal’s away games against the current top-9 have featured over 2.5 goals, which suggests something similar could occur against sixth-placed Betis.

Real Betis 2-1

Reason for tip

This game could go either way, but Betis are favoured due to being at home and having beaten a good Athletic Bilbao side 3-1 on their last home assignment. That was only the second time this season they have scored more than two home goals in a league game, however.

Villarreal will be stung by Marseille mauling

Villarreal were humiliated by Marseille in midweek and will want to get that 4-0 defeat out of their system when they travel to Real Betis in La Liga on Sunday.

Marcelino’s men were completely overwhelmed by the French club and now face an almost impossible task to turn the tie around next week. Their domestic away form has been pretty good of late though and they cannot be discounted from grabbing three points at the Benito Villamarin.

The Yellow Submarines, who have not suffered back-to-back losses since September, sunk Barcelona 5-0 on the road in January and then beat Real Sociedad on their travels after earning a 1-1 draw in Vitoria against Alaves.

Results suggest Yellow Submarines open up away from home

One notable aspect of their away results this season has been that all six of their away contests against teams currently in the top half saw at least three goals scored and all of their road games against the bottom half featured fewer than three strikes.

It is something to bear in mind ahead of this trip to sixth-placed Betis, who have been involved in some high-scoring home games themselves recently. Manuel Pellegrini’s side lost 4-2 at home to Barca in January and beat Athletic Bilbao 3-1 in their last home contest.

Both teams have scored in three of their last four home league games and Villarreal’s last three away league trips too, so a game where both teams find the net with at least three goals in the game looks the way to go in terms of betting.
