Real Salt Lake vs Toronto FC Predictions

Real Salt Lake haven’t beaten Toronto in their last three encounters, but head into Saturday’s game as the hosts and form favourites. Toronto have struggled in recent weeks with no wins in their last three matches and just one goal scored, whereas Real Salt Lake ended their two game losing streak last weekend.

Real Salt Lake made the trip to winless Colorado Rapids last time out, where they would have been confident of picking up all three points. Rusnák handed the visitors the lead from the penalty spot in the twenty-fifth minute, and two minutes later Baird made it 2-0 to Real Salt Lake. Colorado Rapids pulled a goal back in first half stoppage time and equalised two minutes after the restart for the second half, but Real Salt Lake responded really well and moved in front with what turned out to be the winning goal in the fifty-third minute. Toronto were held to a goalless draw in their own backyard by high flying DC United in midweek, but really should have won the game after having 72% of the overall possession, five times as many corners, and twelve shots on target to their guest’s two.

The head to head record between these two clubs and their performances in the MLS heading into Saturday’s game, all points towards a Real Salt Lake victory and over 2.5 goals scored. Real Salt Lake have won four of their last seven matches against Toronto, and four of the last seven encounters between the pair have produced over 2.5 goals. Real Salt Lake have won three of their last five matches, while Toronto have lost three of their last five, and over 2.5 goals have been scored in each of Real Salt Lake’s last five and three of Toronto’s last matches. All of the above leads us to believe that Real Salt Lake will claim a 2-1 victory at home this weekend against a Toronto side that look out of form and short on goals.

Rusnák moved onto five goals for the season with his penalty against Colorado rapids last weekend, while Altidore and Pozuelo both have the same total of goals for Toronto and joint top score for the visitors this season. We’re confident that Real Salt Lake will win and over 2.5 goals will be scored on Saturday, and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-1. Real salt Lake have form and history in their favour at home to Toronto this weekend, but we’re expecting a close and competitive ninety minutes between the pair.
