Real Salt Lake vs Vancouver Whitecaps Predictions

  • Vancouver Whitecaps have lost their last three MLS away games, but have won twice already at their temporary home of Rio Tinto Stadium.
  • Vancouver Whitecaps have scored all six of their 2021 league goals in the second halves of matches.
  • Real Salt Lake have scored only once second half goal in their last four while conceding four after the break in that time.

Whitecaps are value to flatten Real Salt Lake

Real Salt Lake face Vancouver Whitecaps in what could be billed as the battle of Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday.

The Whitecaps, because of immigration policies between the United States and Canada, have been using RSL’s home as their base for matches this season.

So while their away form reads pretty miserably going into this one we think it’s just as valuable to look at how they have fared at ‘home’.

And the answer – two wins from three – would suggest they have a much better chance of victory this weekend than the oddsmakers give them.

Those wins came against Portland (currently eighth in the Western Conference) and Montreal (sixth in the east) while the one loss that was sandwiched between came at the hands of a Colorado Rapids side that went on to win three of their next four.

It may be best to err on the side of caution, however, with any bet and take the odds against price on Vancouver to win or draw in the Double Chance market,

Real Salt Lake have become a draw machine with three consecutive MLs stalemates – two of which were at the Rio Tinto Stadium.

Freddy Juarez’s side keep finding new ways not to win, conceding a late leveller to Minnesota United last time out a few days after giving an early lead away in Dallas.

RSL will hope star turn Rubio Rubin can recapture the early-season form that saw him score three and assist two in three games, but he was off the boil against Minnesota and Nashville.

Unless their creative star turns up on Saturday, the hosts could be in trouble and we are looking at a potential 1-0 Vancouver win to match their ‘home’ opener against Portland.
