Republic Of Ireland vs Bulgaria Predictions

  • Only three of the Republic’s last 22 games have produced over 2.5 goals.
  • The Boys in Green have failed to score in their last six outings.
  • Eight of Bulgaria’s last ten matches have generated under 2.5 goals, including four of their five Nations League fixtures.
  • Four of the sides’ meetings since 2004 have seen fewer than 2.5 goals scored.

Dour Clash on the Cards in Dublin

League B-4’s rags Republic of Ireland and Bulgaria face off at the Aviva Stadium this Wednesday evening, with both sides setting out to avoid relegation to League C.

In a group dominated by Wales and Finland, these teams have mustered just five points between them from ten combined outings, however, it’s Ireland who crucially have their noses in front of the Bulgarians going into this final round of fixtures.

It means a point will do in Dublin for Stephen Kenny’s charges, which appears far from insurmountable despite their woeful form and a run of eight internationals without a victory (D4, L4).

After the sides shared the spoils 1-1 in Sofia two months ago, a similar result could be on the cards again, but it’s perhaps best to focus on a lack of goals being scored in terms of a main wager.

The Irish have been desperate up front in recent times having failed to net in their last six outings and their only goal from five Nations League matches is the strike that secured them that aforementioned point in Bulgaria.

The visitors aren’t much better though with just two goals scored in their five outings, so under 2.5 looks solid – especially considering all but three of Ireland’s last 22 matches have seen fewer than three scored.

Certainly don’t expect too many thrills in Dublin, as this won’t be a game to please the neutrals.
