RKC vs FC Dordrecht Predictions

With four games of the regular season remaining, there’s still plenty of uncertainty around which teams will make the Play-offs however RKC’s berth looks assured if recent form is anything to go by. Fred Grim’s side have won four of their last six including a 4-1 success over champions elect Twente at the start of April, and they are rated odds-on shots to solidify their place in the top nine with another victory against 17th placed Dordrecht this Friday.

Indeed, RKC have been one of the most consistent teams in Eerste Divisie to hang your hat on since the turn of the year and last week’s cosy 2-4 win at Jong AZ made it nine wins, two draws and just four defeats for the Waalwijk outfit since the beginning of January.

29 points from 15 outings is an impressive haul for a side that finished out with the washing last term, and RKC are 11 places and 23 points better off than they were at this stage last season.

It’s a spell which has given them a genuine shot at returning to Eredivisie via the Play-offs after a five year absence from the top flight, and they will be focused on building further momentum throughout the run-in with a finish inside the top four still possible.

They were beaten 2-0 by Dordrecht at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion in November’s reverse fixture, but a repeat here seems unlikely despite Schappenkoppen’s upturn in form under the stewardship of Claudio Braga.

That upturn has been interspersed by a couple of hidings such as their brutal 8-1 defeat against FC Eindhoven in late March, but generally Dordrecht have been better than their 17th place implies since Braga’s appointment three months ago.

Schappenkoppen have posted two wins and a draw from their last three league matches including a tremendous 0-1 triumph at Twente on match day 33, although it has to be said that the league leaders turned in a real stinker at De Grolsch Veste on that occasion.

Nonetheless, Dordrecht have won five of their last seven on the road and they will travel to Waalwijk believing that they can inflict a league double over Fred Grim’s charges.

Odds of around 4/1 for the visitors look about right though based on RKC’s recent results and consistency, and the hosts have ultimately proved themselves to be the better side this term.

We fancy Dordrecht to get on the scoresheet here though – they have failed to net just once in their last 12 away whilst RKC have kept just one clean sheet in their last ten league outings. So with those stats looking good, we’re recommending a home win with both teams to score here alongside a 2-1 correct score prediction.
