RKC vs FC Oss Predictions

Huseyin Dogan was back in amongst the goals last week as Oss beat Jong Utrecht 2-1 to stay in touch of the Play-off places. Klaas Wels’ side were unconvincing in victory, but they’ll nonetheless be confident of notching a fifth success of the campaign on match day nine when they visit Waalwijk to face an RKC side who are winless in six Eerste Divisie games.

Oss’ slender win over 19th placed Jong Utrecht keeps them 7th in the table heading into this week’s cash with RKC, and in the hunt for the Play-offs at this early stage in the season.

It ended a run of three league games without a win or a goal for TOP, and supporters will have been pleased to see Huseyin Dogan hit the net following a mini drought.  The 24 year-old now has six for the season, primarily due to his outstanding form in August.

Oss manager Klaas Wels has done a decent job based on the first eight matches of the campaign overall, and 14 points is a more than respectable haul for a side that’s finished 15th in the last two seasons.

Although Oss started quickly and dropped like a stone last term, they definitely look capable of cementing a place in the top half this season, and they’ll have eyes on potentially moving into the top five going into match day nine.

Games like this at RKC need to be won consistently by Oss if they are to mount a surprise Play-off challenge this term, but they’ll be wary having lost on their last three visits to Waalwijk.

RKC had a great start to the season with back to back wins over Telstar (1-0) and Den Bosch (2-3), but they’ve been woefully poor since.

Fred Grim’s side have picked up just one draw from their last six league outings, and confidence will be extremely low after being edged out 1-0 by fellow strugglers Volendam last week – which was the first success of the campaign for Palingboeren.

It’s perhaps fair to say that following their positive start, RKC had the stuffing knocked out of them a little between match day’s three and five in losing games to Sparta Rotterdam, Cambuur and Roda JC  – sides who’ve been operating around the top five more or less from the off.

A 2-0 home victory against Eredivisie outfit NAC Breda in the KNVB Beker a fortnight ago indicated fortunes may be about to turn for RKC, however Grim’s side have failed to build on that triumph in the league.

This looks a really fascinating tussle, and it’s difficult to call a winner. Oss are clearly in better form but RKC have dominated Oss in Waalwijk over the past few seasons and that could just spark them into life this Friday.

So we think the value is with backing under 2.5 goals for what should be tight contest. That’s been a feature of 75% RKC’s home fixtures this term, and 75% Oss’ away dates. Alongside this, we’re going for a 1-1 draw in Waalwijk.
