Rochdale vs Scunthorpe Predictions

Rochdale sit in the relegation places heading into this weekends League One action, but the hosts have managed to pick up four points from their last two matches and will be hoping to add to that tally against Scunthorpe. The visitors currently occupy seventeenth position in the table, but there are only two points between themselves and the drop zone, so both teams have plenty of motivation ahead of kick-off.

Rochdale were held to a goalless draw at home by fellow relegation battlers Oxford United last time out, in a match that certainly won’t live long in the memory. Both sides were guilty of being very wasteful in the final third and each keeper only had a couple of routine saves to make during the ninety minutes. Scunthorpe put in a dismal display away at Portsmouth last weekend, producing just one shot during the ninety minutes, and the visitors were beaten in the end by two second half goals from Pompey duo Bogle and Lowe.

We’re expecting an open, end to end ninety minutes between these two clubs, as we have seen in their head to head record over the last four years and their performances in League One in recent weeks. The last nine matches between Rochdale and Scunthorpe have seen both teams score, while three of Rochdale’s and Scunthorpe’s last five matches have also ended with both teams getting on the scoreboard. Rochdale have kept one clean sheet in their last six matches, while Scunthorpe have managed none. Both teams have lost four, drawn one, and won one of their last six league games, and four of the last six matches between these two clubs have ended in stalemate. Neither club can claim to be in great form and both have plenty to play for this weekend, which is why we’re backing the game to end in a draw.

Henderson top scores for Rochdale in League One this season with sixteen goals, while Novak leads the way for Scunthorpe with ten goals in the league so far. We’re confident that both teams will score on Saturday, and have backed the scoreline to end 2-2. There have been plenty of draws between these two clubs in recent seasons and their last nine encounters have ended with both teams getting on the scoreboard.
