Rochdale vs Sheffield United Predictions

Rochdale, who were seemingly well on their way to securing a play-off place for a large part this season, have slipped right off the pace in recent weeks and are now without a win in eight matches – a run of form which has seem them drop seven points below that all-important 6th place. On the other, hand Sheffield United are thriving and currently in pole position to return to the Championship having opened up a seven point lead at the top.

The visitors are currently looking tough to beat and are fancied to prove too good for a Rochdale Side who’re on the slide. However, rather than backing the visitors to win at 8/11, getting behind ‘Sheffield United to Score Over 1.5 Goals’, at 5/6, is the better option.

Not only have the visitors scored more goals away from home than any other team in League One this season, but they’ve scored at least twice nine times on the road. Considering Rochdale have been conceding plenty of goals lately, it would be no surprise at all if this stat became ten. Chris Wilder’s men play an attacking game and in Leon Clarke they have one of the most experience goal-scorers around.

The hosts really have been poor of late. They’re without a win in eight and have been conceding an alarming amount of goals, especially at home. In their last five on home soil, Rochdale have shipped no less than 12 goals, conceding at least twice in three of those. They may have scored three in their last home fixture against Charlton, but they also conceded three and looked very poor when conceding three yet again away to Peterborough during the week.

All in all this is another excellent opportunity for Sheffield United to cement their position at the head of affairs and they’re fancied to do it in good style here.
