Roda JC vs FC Oss Predictions

With just one point separating these two sides in the Eerste Divisie table, there’s a huge three points up for grabs at Parkstad Limburg Stadion this Friday evening. After a fantastic 1-4 success at Sparta Rotterdam last week, it’s Oss who currently hold the final guaranteed Play-off berth in 9th, so the emphasis is arguably on the hosts to go all out for the win here as they seek to continue their decent start under new boss Eric van der Luer.

Last week’s fixture in Rotterdam was seen as a bit of a free hit for Oss as they weren’t expected to get anything at Het Kasteel; however Klaas Wels’ side romped their way to a 1-4 success as top scorer Huseyin Dogan fired in a brace.

2nd placed Sparta were pretty woeful truth be told, but Oss won’t care a jot and the result sets them up nicely now for their run in which looks favourable compared to several other teams in and around the Play-offs.

Oss’ final two fixtures of the regular season are against second bottom Helmond Sport and 17th placed Dordrecht, and with maximum points a real possibility from those encounters, there’s not as much pressure on TOP this weekend compared to opponents Roda JC who still have games against in form Telstar and 5th placed Den Bosch upcoming.

Roda will definitely fancy their chances here though – they have started well under Eric van der Luer and made it seven points from a possible nine last week with a 1-2 success at FC Eindhoven.

Despite their slide down the table prior to Robert Molenaar’s dismissal, they have held their form well in Kerkrade throughout the campaign and go into this Friday’s clash having lost just one of their last 13 at Parkstad Limburg Stadion.

That walloped Oss 0-5 at Frans Heesen Stadion in November’s reverse contest and that could prove key on match day 35 as they will feel that they have the measure of their opponents.

Oss have to be respected after such a fine result last time out but they had lost five from seven on the road prior to that, and the value of their win in Rotterdam is questionable based on how badly the hosts performed.

So we’re opting for Roda in this one and the odds against available looks decent based on how consistent van der Luer’s men have been on home soil. Like the league table, there’s unlikely to be too much in this despite Roda’s walkover success in the return, but the Kerkrade outfit can win still win through 2-1 to confirm their head to head superiority over the visitors.
