Romania vs Denmark Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Romania ended their wait for major international competition last summer when they qualified for Euro 2016, but they ended up going out in the group stages after picking up just one point from their three group games.

They haven’t really been able to get back to their best since then either. They followed it with a 1-1 draw at home to Montenegro in the first World Cup qualifying game, and a 5-0 hammering of Armenia boosted their confidence.

Romania couldn’t build on this though and went on to play out a goalless draw in Kazakhstan and lost 3-0 at home to Poland, leaving them 4th in the group with a five point deficit on Poland at the top and a two point deficit on the playoff spot that Montenegro occupy.

Denmark lie just between Romania and Montenegro in 3rd position, and they will be hoping for a decent result here as they look to make it to the World Cup in 2018. They only just missed out on the European Championships in France last summer, losing to arch rivals Sweden in the playoffs.

They ended up playing the Kirin Cup over the summer, drawing with Bosnia-Herzegovina and hammering Bulgaria 4-0 before beating Liechtenstein in a friendly. Their World Cup qualifiers started with a 1-0 win at home to Armenia, and whilst defeats to Poland and Montenegro followed, they bounced back as they thrashed Kazakhstan 4-1. Their last outing was a 1-1 draw in Czech Republic in November.

Romania’s normally sturdy defence hasn’t been performing since the summer, and they have conceded in each of their last four home games. Denmark haven’t kept a clean sheet in six away days though, but they have found the net in four of them. Despite both teams’ rather limited attacking options, this suggests that a clean sheet might be hard to come by, especially with both sides classing this as a must win match.
