Ross County vs Inverness CT Predictions

After receiving a battering away against Queen of the South, Ross County could easily have let their heads drop, though the current Scottish Championship leaders have reacted well and thus come into this cup match off the back of three straight wins. Having won on the road last time out, Monday’s hosts will fancy themselves to do the business in front of a home crowd.

It’s been hard to fault Ross County during the current campaign. They’ve seemingly not let last season’s relegation get to them, as they’ve set about dominating the second division. Their performance against Dunfermline last time out was a very encouraging one, while they got to this stage of the Scottish FA Cup by knocking out Premiership Motherwell away from home in the last round.

Moreover, the efforts of the Staggies at home have been impressive. Their recent victory over Alloa marked three straight home wins for Ross County, who’ve lost just one of their 11 home matches in the Scottish Championship this season. They recently beat Monday’s opponents at this venue by two goals to one, though while that result was a positive one, their performance wasn’t overly encouraging. On that occasion, Inverness were very unlucky not to get at least a draw, especially since they ended the game with an expected goal difference of +1.03.

In addition to their encouraging efforts at this venue at the end of December, Inverness, who’re currently 4th in the Scottish Championship, have acquitted themselves well on the road this season. They come here off the back of a pleasing win away against Ayr United in their last away games, while their only loss in nine travelling matches was when they undeservedly lost at this venue six weeks ago.

At the back, Inverness’ efforts away from home haven’t quite been as impressive as Ross County’s at home, but they’ve certainly looked good from an attacking point of view. Monday’s visitors are averaging an eye-catching 1.65 expected goals for away from home, while they’ve scored ten goals in their last five away games. Their last three expected-goals for figures of 1.89, 1.62 and 2.75 make for good reading. A repeat of the 2.75 posted at Victoria Park when the pair last met would likely see the visitors get a positive result.

Given that they’re above Inverness in the table and the fact that they’re at home, Ross County do warrant favouritism ahead of this match, though they don’t deserve to be as short as they are. Inverness proved that they can outplay the Staggies when they visited this venue in December, while the visitors have also delivered a string of impressive away-day efforts in recent times. On this basis, it’s easy to feel that the visitors ought to be shorter and thus supporting them to get a positive result at the current prices represents a slice of value.
