Solid Russia can shut out Turkey

Russia were beaten 2-1 by Sweden in a midweek friendly but as far as competitive action goes, Stanislav Cherchesov’s side have been in great form and they can account for Turkey in Moscow.

Russia ran out comfortable winners against both Serbia (3-1) and Hungary (3-2) in their first two Nations League encounters and should be fancied to see off Turkey, who picked up one point from their first two games against the same set of opponents.

The hosts were also impressive during qualification for the Euros, winning eight of their ten fixtures to finish second in Group I behind Belgium.

Turkey also finished second in their section but have been short of confidence in the final third of late, firing blanks in three of their last five matches and, although they drew 3-3 in a friendly with Germany on Wednesday, they can be tough to break down in a competitive setting. With that in mind, a 2-0 win to Russia could be the best correct score prediction.
