      Salford City vs Cheltenham Predictions

Salford claimed a point away at Morecambe last weekend as the game ended 2-2 and extended their unbeaten run to six matches in league and cup, while Cheltenham thrashed struggling Stevenage 4-2 at home.

All of the stats suggest that Salford are best placed to claim all three points from Saturday’s encounter and the hosts are in with a good chance of keeping a clean sheet in the process.

Salford are unbeaten in their last six matches in all competitions and haven’t lost at home in League Two this season, but five of their last six games ended in stalemate, which is somewhat of a concern for the home side. However, Cheltenham haven’t won away from home in their last eleven attempts in all competitions, which includes the tail-end of last season, pre-season, and the start of the new campaign.

Cheltenham have also lost their last two away games, both of which ended 1-0, against Exeter City and Crawley Town, and their lack of goals and points on the road just adds more weight to our prediction of a 1-0 win for Salford this weekend. In fact, Cheltenham haven’t scored in any of their last six away games in all competitions, through pre-season and the start of the new League Two campaign, which will only hand Salford even more motivation heading into this weekends’ clash.

Salford kept a clean sheet in their last home game, a 2-0 win over Aston Villa U21s in the EFL Trophy, and the hosts have scored in each of their last six matches, against Morecambe, Aston Villa U21s, Leyton Orient, Carlisle United, Plymouth Argyle, and Port Vale. That clean sheet in their last home game will act as a confidence boost for Salford as they have drawn a lot of games that they should have won due to individual errors and keeping out Villa will give them the belief that they can stop Cheltenham from scoring as well.

We’re confidence that Salford will win on Saturday and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-0. The hosts are yet to be beaten at home in the league this season and their guests are yet to win on the road. Cheltenham have had trouble scoring goals away from home and Salford have scored in all of their last six matches, which is why we believe the hosts will claim all three points on Saturday.
