Santa Clara vs Feirense Predictions

Santa Clara sit one point behind Rio Ave in the race for seventh place in the Primeira Liga, but after drawing three of their last five matches Saturday’s hosts really need a win this weekend. Visitors Feirense have already had their relegation from the Primeira Liga confirmed, but that didn’t stop them securing a point against another of the sides in danger of going down last time out.

Santa Clara weren’t the better of the two sides last weekend when they made the trip to Tondela, but the visitors still managed to come away with three points. Rashid put Santa Clara in front via a twenty-first minute penalty, but the hosts equalised early in the second half through a penalty of their own. Sixty-six minutes were on the clock when Schettine restored the visitors one goal advantage, and Rashid confirmed the three points when he scored his second goal of the game fourteen minutes from time. Feirense predictably went behind at home to Chaves last time out, but recovered to lead 2-1 at the break thanks to an own goal and one from Bruno. Chaves equalised just before the hour mark, but Babanco restored Feirense’s lead in the seventh minute. The host’s joy was short lived as Chaves once again equalised, and despite going back in front through Machado three minutes later, the visitors rescued a point with the game’s eighth goal deep into stoppage time.

Despite those high scoring matches, the recent head to head record and overall performances of both teams over the last month or so suggests that under 2.5 goals are likely to be scored on Saturday and that the game looks set to end in a draw. Four of the last seven meetings between these two teams have ended in draws, and three of those draws have produced under 2.5 goals. Santa Clara have drawn three of their last five matches, while Feirense drew their last match at home to Chaves, and under 2.5 goals have been scored in five of Santa Clara’s and four of Feirense’s last six matches. In terms of a final score we are backing the two teams to cancel each other out and for the game to end in a 1-1 draw.

Zé Manuel leads the way for Santa Clara with eight goals in the league this season, while Edinho top scores for Feirense with four Primeira Liga goals. We’re confident that Saturday’s game will end in a draw, and have predicted a final scoreline of 1-1. A draw is a common result between these two teams over recent season, and the hosts head into Saturday’s game having drawn more than they have won or lost over their last six matches. Feirense are playing without pressure now that they are relegated, which showed during their 4-4 draw with Chaves last weekend.
