Seattle Sounders vs LA Galaxy Predictions

  • Seattle Sounders have now gone nine MLS games straight without a win, tied for the longest winless run in team history.
  • LA Galaxy have won both of their MLS games this season 1-0.
  • LA Galaxy avoided defeat with a 1-1 draw in Seattle last November.
  • Seattle have failed to score in four of their last six MLS contests.

Galaxy are growing in confidence

LA Galaxy’s early-season form and confidence makes them an obvious choice to avoid defeat against a Seattle Sounders team that has forgotten how to win MLS matches.

The Sounders head into Saturday’s game at Lumen Field on their longest winless run in team history after defeats in the opening two rounds to Nashville and Real Salt Lake took that sequence up to nine.

Brian Schmetzer’s side have been able to get wins in the CONCACAF Champions League during midweek play, but no points and no goals from their opening two MLS games is a troubling start. Seattle are operating without a couple of injured stars – Uruguayan international midfielder Nicolás Lodeiro and last season’s top scorer and Raúl Ruidíaz – which is certainly not helping.

Absences weaken Seattle’s spine

And they may be without another key cog against the Galaxy this weekend after defender Alex Roldán picked up a foot injury in the 3-0 win over Club Leon on Tuesday. Additional concerns that their other designated player Albert Rusnak has made a slow start since his offseason arrival and you have plenty of reasons to oppose the hosts in this contest.

Los Angeles have proven to be inconsistent on the road in the past, but there were signs of improvement there in the second half of last season. And, although their road win against Charlotte last weekend was only against an expansion side still finding their feet, Galaxy were totally dominant and were able to get the job done in front of a pretty raucous 74,000 crowd.

Back-to-back clean sheets for Greg Vanney’s men make us think that, even if they can’t grab a goal themselves, they can at least stop Seattle from scoring on Saturday. So the double chance market looks worthy of an investment in the Galaxy while we also endorse a 0-0 correct score bet based on Seattle’s failure to score in four of their last six MLS contests.
