Difficult week to end in defeat for Derby

After a dismal start to the season, Sheffield United are finally getting their act together and The Blades can extend their unbeaten run in the Championship to five with victory over crisis club Derby County at Bramall Lane.

Last Saturday’s 3-1 triumph at Hull City made it eight points from a possible 12 for The Blades who are now up to 14^th in the table, and while they suffered a penalties defeat to Southampton in the Carabao Cup here in midweek, that still represented a decent effort against Premier League opposition.

Exiting the cup will probably benefit United as they aim to work their way into promotion contention, and they can take another step forward this weekend against The Rams who they beat 2-1 at Bramall Lane in the Carabao Cup in August.

Wayne Rooney has done a fine job at Derby County so far this season considering the club’s circumstances, which took an inevitable turn for the worse during the week when The Rams officially announced they were entering administration.

A ten point deduction has more than cancelled out the admirable early efforts this term from Rooney’s charges and they’re now rock bottom of the table on minus two points going into this clash.

We expect County to maintain their fight despite the mountain they have to climb, although it wouldn’t surprise us to see The Rams rocked when they turn up in South Yorkshire this Saturday.

United’s recent form and cup win over The Rams swings things in the hosts’ favour this weekend, and we’re backing a Blades success via a 2-0 score-line.
