Skendija Tetovo vs Rosenborg Predictions

Can Rosenborg follow up their first leg success with a victory over Shkendija on Thursday night? The Macedonian side lost 3-1 in their trip to Norway a week ago, and now they have a mountain to climb in this tie. The pair are both hoping to claim a place in the group stage draw for the Europa League on Friday afternoon, but right now it’s advantage Rosenborg as they race for a place among the 48 teams in the next round. Will the hosts find a way to turn around the deficit, or can the Norwegian champions progress?

Shkendija returned to winning ways in their domestic league on Monday night, winning 4-1 at home to Belasica. They’ve made a slow start domestically, and it’s hard to see the hosts becoming a real threat to Rosenborg this week. Their away goal in Norway ended a run of three games without a goal in Europe, and they aren’t exactly packing a lot of firepower. While they look strong going forward domestically, Europe is a step up, and that’s going to make this a tough game for the home side.

Rosenborg have bounced back brilliantly from their Champions League exit to Celtic. They ran the Scottish champions close in Europe’s top competition, and they saw off Irish champions Cork City home and away last time out to progress to the play-off round of the qualifiers. The Norwegian side went all the way to the group stage last term – knocking out Dutch giants Ajax along the way – and they are looking good to repeat that run this season.

The away side are coming off the back of five wins in six, including four victories on the spin. Sunday brought a 4-3 win over Stromgodset, but we can’t see them needing to work as hard in this clash. Their great form brought them a comfortable win in the first leg, and they head in to Thursday’s clash as favourites to win on the night, never mind the tie. The Macedonian side had been poor in Europe ahead of that defeat, losing 4-0 at TNS, alongside home and away defeats to Salzburg, which dumped them out of the Champions League.

We’re backing the visitors to add to their winning run on Thursday, and they look like value given their recent form. We’re going with Rosenborg’s European experience to make the difference here, especially following on from three straight wins in this competition. An away win is our tip, with 2-0 our correct score pick.
