Slovenia vs Norway Predictions

Norway are in a tight race for top spot in Group C3 in the UEFA Nations League. The top of the table is incredibly tight, with two sides on nine points. Bulgaria are putting up a fight for first place, after Norway narrowly beat them in the last round of internationals. Meanwhile, Slovenia are at risk of slipping into the bottom tier of the Nations League, joining the likes of Andorra and Gibraltar next time around. Can they claim three points in this home clash and try to avoid the drop?

Slovenia picked up their first point of the competition when they drew 1-1 with Cyprus last month. They could have done with a better result, as they still trail Cyprus by three points in the fight for survival. However, the hosts had to score a 83rd minute equaliser after trailing for most of the game, a goal which basically prevented their relegation being confirmed. Will they take their second chance at securing survival with a win here?

Norway have hit form in this group, and their 1-0 win over Bulgaria has pushed them into pole position for promotion. They’re also gunning for a place in the Euro 2020 play-offs, which they can get by finishing top. Bulgaria seem determined to take this down to the wire, so Norway will need to claim three points in this trip. However, the visitors aren’t likely to produce any sparkling football, having seen just five goals across their four Nations League outings so far.

Slovenia have conceded six times in four games, following a 2-1 defeat to Bulgaria at home and that draw with Cyprus. Their leaky defence should be a worry against a Norway side who have looked solid at the back, conceding just once in the Nations League. The visitors will certainly fancy their chances here, as they meet a Slovenia team who have lost five of their last seven internationals, claiming just a single win since October 2017.

The visitors have won seven of their last eight games, and they have tightened up their defence remarkably in the last few months. They look really strong at this level, and so far they’ve done enough to suggest they deserve promotion to the second tier. We expect them to add to the hosts misery, so we’re backing a Norway victory here, along with a 1-0 win for the visitors.
