Tottenham Hotspur to Win

Reason for tip

Results haven’t necessarily matched performances for Spurs of late but they did manage  3-1 win over Nottingham Forest last time out and can maintain their hold on fourth spot by seeing off Southampton, who  have three defeats in their last five across all competitions.

Tottenham Hotspur 2-0

Reason for tip

Spurs have scored at least twice in each of their last three wins, while Southampton have scored just one goal in their last four league games, so a 2-0 win for the visitors appeals.

Heung Min Son To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Son Heung-min appears to be playing his way back into form and has two goals in his last four Premier League games. The South Korean looks a reasonable option in the anytime scorer market, offering more value than usual suspect Harry Kane.

Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur Predictions

  • Southampton sit bottom of the Premier League table and were beaten 2-0 at home by Brentford in midweek.
  • Spurs ended a three-game winless run by seeing off Nottingham Forest 3-1 last time out.
  • Son Heung-min has two goals in his last four league games.

Saints trip a chance for Spurs

Tottenham have forced their way into the top four spots over the last few weeks and they can strengthen their hold on fourth spot with a win at struggling Southampton on Saturday.

Saints went down 2-0 at home to Brentford in midweek and they sit rock bottom of the Premier League table, although they are just two points adrift of safety.

Selles revival already over?

Ruben Selles kicked off his stint at Saints boss with a win over Chelsea and then picked up four points in the next three games, but the last two performances have been poor and it seems as if any new boss bounce has now run its course.

Saints managed a credible 0-0 draw with Manchester United last weekend but they were playing against 10 men for nearly an hour, while they offered very little going forward against Brentford and registered just one shot on goal despite dominating possession for large periods.

Spurs ended their own tough spell with a win over Nottingham Forest at home last time out and this trip looks like a great opportunity to end a four-game losing streak on the road. Tottenham were perhaps unlucky to lose at Wolves in their last trip, and they may enjoy a bit more success against a Saints side who are low on confidence and struggling in attack.

Goals could be in short supply

Southampton may be struggling for goals but they are keeping things fairly tight at the back themselves and they have conceded just three goals in five games since Selles took charge.

Spurs have scored at least twice in each of their last three wins, however, so a 2-0 win for the visitors looks a reasonable correct score prediction for this match-up at St Mary’s.

Harry Kane will always appeal as a scorer bet for Spurs but another option could be Son Heung-min as the South Korean appears to be playing his way back into form. Son has two goals in his last four league games and was on target against Forest, and he looks a good option at a bigger price than Kane for Saturday’s trip to the Premier League basement boys.
