Sporting Kansas City vs San Jose Earthquakes Predictions

In-form Sporting can see off San Jose

Sporting Kansas City are in a rich vein of form after three straight wins and they will be looking to make it four in a row when the struggling San Jose Earthquakes visit in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Sporting KC sit second in the Western Conference and are just three points behind pacesetters Seattle after the Sounder slipped to a first loss of the season over the weekend.

San Jose made a strong start to the season with three wins in their first four games but their form has tailed off since and they head to Kansas seeking to end a nine-game winless streak (D3, L6).

The Earthquakes have drawn three of their last four away games but the Wizards’ excellent home form points to an SKC win here.  The Kansas club are yet to be beaten at their Children’s Mercy Park base with five wins and two draws from seven games, scoring 15 goals and conceding seven in the process.

Peter Vermes’ men have managed just one clean sheet on home soil this season and we may well see goals at both ends.  San Jose have scored three goals over the course of their last two away games and it is in defence where they have real issues, having conceded 23 goals in 13 games – the joint worst defensive record in the Conference with Vancouver Whitecaps.

Kansas have scored three goals in three of their last five home games and as we feel San Jose should be able to get on the scoresheet a 3-1 win looks a strong option in the correct score market.

Sporting Kansas also have a forward in form as Daniel Salloi has six goals in his last eight games – including four in SKC’s last three home matches – and he stands out in the anytime scorer market.
