Sporting Kansas City vs Seattle Sounders Predictions

Sporting KC sit second from bottom of the Western Conference after a surprisingly slow start to the new season, and on Sunday they play host to a Seattle Sounders side that are flying high in the table and in the midst of an unbeaten streak. Both teams have drawn their fair share of matches of late, which could make for good reading for those Sporting KC fans as their side haven’t won any of their last seven matches in the MLS and a point on Sunday would be deemed a good result.

Sporting KC looked in good shape at halftime at home to Vancouver Whitecaps, where a thirty-seventh minute goal from Hungarian striker Nemeth put the hosts 1-0 up. However, six minutes into the second half the goalscorer Nemeth was shown a straight red card and for the rest of the half the hosts were under a lot of pressure; pressure that told deep into stoppage time when Vancouver Whitecaps’ substitute Cornelius hammered home an equaliser. Seattle Sounders made the tricky trip to Eastern Conference leaders Philadelphia Union last time out, where, despite being under the cosh for the majority of the ninety minutes, the visitors escaped with a point.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs, their performances over the last month, and the hosts injury list, all point towards Seattle Sounders avoiding defeat and both teams scoring on Sunday. Seattle Sounders have only lost one of their last five matches against Sporting KC, and have won three of their last five encounters. Sporting KC are without a win in their last nine league and cup games, while Seattle Sounders are unbeaten in their last six MLS games. Both teams have scored in four of Sporting KC’s and four of Seattle Sounders’ last six matches. Sporting KC have a long injury list which has had a major effect on their team selection in recent weeks, and lead to some poor results, which is why we’re backing Seattle Sounders with a double chance bet and to win the game 3-1.

Nemeth top scores for Sporting KC this season with seven goals, but won;t feature this weekend due to suspension. Morris and Ruidíaz have both netted four goals apiece in the MLS this season for Seattle Sounders and will be keen to add to their tallies against Sporting KC this weekend. We’re confident that a double chance bet on the visitors will payout on Sunday, and have predicted a 3-1 win for Seattle Sounders. The visitors are the form favourites, have outperformed their hosts so far this season, and have a great record against Sporting KC, but with both teams picking up a lot of draws of late the double chance bet covers the possibility of a stalemate.
