St Etienne started off in 2020-21 with a comfortable 2-0 success at home to Lorient and we think the 100 per cent record can be maintained by a victory over third-bottom Strasbourg.

It is early in the season but St Etienne manager Claude Puel appears to have recruited well and his team should improve significantly on last season’s 17th place finish which was only seven points above the drop zone.

Southampton fans were often frustrated by Puel (Saints manager from June 2016 to June 2017), who was tagged as a cautious coach.

But Puel’s organisational skills are having a positive impact on St Etienne, who conceded just one shot on target in their victory over Lorient.

While St Etienne look solid, Strasbourg have lost their last three competitive matches – conceding eight goals in the process.
