Stevenage vs Cheltenham Predictions

Time is almost up on this campaign but before the players can pack their bags and jet off around the world for their summer holidays, they still have one final fixture to take part in. This weekend sees a Stevenage side who still have faint chances of making the end of season play-offs face off against a Cheltenham side who have looked pretty strong since they secured their place in the Football League for another season.

The hosts have gone a little under the radar in their bid for the end of season play-offs and, although time is running out and they are in 11th spot in the league, there is still a glimmer of hope that they can claim a spot in the top seven. Stevenage come into this contest in high spirits and have managed to win four games and a draw in their previous five matches, but what is perhaps the most impressive aspect of that is the fact that they have done so scoring a total of 12 goals.

Cheltenham Town will be happy in the knowledge that they have managed to secure their survival for another season so the campaign can be deemed a success. However, the Robins will perhaps be disappointed they did not go on and challenge for the play-offs as they have often mixed well when facing the sides who are currently in the mix and they will feel that if they strengthen in the summer then this is a goal which is by no means out of their reach.

With the importance of this match to the hosts, we would expect them to get on the front foot early and try to secure the three points as soon as possible. Knowing that goal difference may become a factor, they will likely want to win this one by a big margin, but given that their visitors are in excellent form in front of goal themselves, we think that this one could prove to be a high scoring affair. With this in mind, we think that backing there to be over 2.5 goals scored is the way to go.
