Sunderland vs Gillingham Predictions

  • Gillingham are unbeaten in their last three visits to the Stadium of Light
  • Gillingham have lost one of their last five away matches
  • Sunderland have won three of their last 11 matches

No reason to desert Gills

Neil Harris has done a remarkable job since taking over as Gillingham boss. Relegation looked inevitable when Harris took over from Steve Evans, however The Gills have taken 15 points from the 12 matches they have played under Harris’ stewardship and now find themselves four points above the drop zone. Gillingham have lost one of their last five away matches and travel to a ground on Saturday where they haven’t lost on any of their last three visits. Nothing is expected of Gillingham on Saturday, but they are full of confidence and are more than a live outsider.

Pressure all on Black Cats

The pressure really is all on Sunderland on Saturday and we have seen in recent seasons that, that isn’t normally a positive for Black Cats fans. Sunderland looked to have blown a play-off place a few weeks ago but a six-match unbeaten run has seen Alex Neil’s side work their way back into contention – Sunderland are now just two points behind sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday. Should Sunderland not manage to make the play-offs this season it would be an all-time choke job and one their fans would find it hard to get over, Gillingham will certainly make them earn it on Saturday.

Gillingham deserve more respect than the 7/1 they have been chalked up at for success on Saturday. Gillingham have taken ten points from their last five away matches and haven’t lost at the Stadium of Light on any of their last three visits. Gillingham Draw No Bet is the main selection for this game, and I am very optimistic of our chances at around the 9/2 mark. In the correct score market, I suggest chancing a 2-1 away win, which was the score line when Gillingham took down Accrington last weekend.
