Swindon vs Millwall Predictions

Having lost again last time out, Swindon find themselves in a terrible position. With nine games left to play the hosts are seven points from safety and, with their opponents not getting any easier, the immediate future is looking pretty bleak for the Robins. In contrast, Millwall are still in the hunt for a place in the play-offs and will be confident of moving one step closer to their end goal here.

In fairness to the hosts, they may have lost a lot of games recently, but they’ve remained competitive from an attacking sense. Swindon have now scored in four of their last five, including against the top two in Bolton and Sheffield United. On their own patch, you certainly couldn’t rule them out. However, defensively they’ve looked poor and are highly likely to continue conceding here. On this basis, ‘Both Teams to Score’ catches the eye.

As touched on above, Swindon have certainly upped their attacking efforts in recent weeks. The Robins have now scored at least once in five of their last six and in seven of their last ten. The fact that they were able to score twice against league leaders Sheffield United in their last home matches bodes well.

Despite scoring goals, Swindon are still losing matches – this is largely down to their inability to keep things tight at the back. Luke Williams’ side have kept just one clean sheet in their last ten league matches.

Unlike the hosts, Millwall have been very solid at the back for some time. However, such solidity vanished on Wednesday night as they conceded three away to Rochdale. In fairness, on the road this season, although their form is very respectable, Millwall have been short on clean sheets. Neil Harris’ men have shut their opposition out just three times in 17 attempts. Unsurprisingly, both teams have scored in 71% of the Lions’ matches on the road.

It’s also worth noting that both teams really do need to win this match, albeit for very different reasons, so we’re likely to see two sides having a good go at each other. The home side’s goal record of late is a real positive, but the fact that they’re conceding an awful lot really isn’t. Once again Swindon are expected to both score and concede (probably more than once) and, therefore, ‘Both Teams to Score’ is the bet to go for.
