Swindon vs Notts County Predictions

With the final whistle almost due on the regular part of the 2018/19 season, there are still a few issues which remain unresolved in League Two. This weekend sees one of the sides who have little left to play for face off against a side who are still yet to secure their survival in League Two as Swindon Town welcome Notts County to the County Ground.

Swindon Town will be disappointed with the way their season has panned out as they will have been hoping to still be in the running for a shot at playing their football in League One next season. The Robins were right in the mix until a disappointing end to the campaign put an end to any play-off hopes, and they come into the final game of the campaign having failed to win in any of their previous six outings. It is not as if they are getting outclassed, however, as four of those results ended in a stalemate.

Making the trip to the County Ground is a Notts County side who will just be hoping to get the win this weekend, secure their survival and then forget the 2018/19 season ever occurred. The Magpies were expected to be one of the sides challenging for the title prior to the season kicking off, but they have rarely looked like a team capable of anywhere near that level and with a defence which has conceded a league worst of 81 goals, it is easy to see where the rebuilding will have to begin. However, the visitors go into this contest on the back of a morale boosting win over Grimsby but they know that anything less than three points will see the side playing their football in the National League next season.

The hosts have little left to play for in this clash other than pride and they also go into this contest having failed to win any of their previous six outings. When you add the fact that Notts County simply cannot afford anything other than three points, we think that they will be doing all they can to secure their survival and backing an away win seems the best way to obtain a decent return.
