Toronto FC vs FC Dallas Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

Toronto FC may be the reigning champions of the MLS and the best team on paper, but they haven’t enjoyed the best of starts to the 2018 campaign. They managed to get a 2-1 win over Orlando City last time out, but that followed on from back to back defeats to leave them in a dismal 9th place in the MLS Eastern Conference.

They have picked up just ten points from their opening ten games, and that win against Orlando City make it two wins, one draw, and four defeats from their last seven league games. Considering they are already 15 points off the top spot in the MLS, it’s looking unlikely that they’ll secure consecutive MLS Supporters Shield trophies this year.

FC Dallas had a similar season last year, eventually missing out on the Playoffs entirely just a year after lifting the Supporters Shield. Fortunately for their loyal fans, they seem to have learned from these mistakes and are back on track now.

They picked up a 2-2 draw at home to Vancouver Whitecaps last weekend, and while they do still struggle to pick up the three points at times they have only lost one league game all season. That came away to New York City at the end of April, leaving them on a three match unbeaten streak.

This upturn in performances have pushed FC Dallas up the table, and with two games in hand on leaders Sporting Kansas City they now sit seven points adrift of them. A victory on Friday night could push them into 2nd place, so it’s definitely looking promising for the 2016 Supporters Shield champions.

Admittedly FC Dallas have only played three away games so far, but they beat New England Revolution back in April and drew against 2nd placed Los Angeles FC in their last trip away. They have also only lost one of their last six trips to the BMO Field in the MLS, so history is definitely on their side.

Add that to the fact that Toronto FC have only won three of their six home league games this season, losing to both Columbus Crew and Seattle Sounders, and it looks a bad choice by the bookies to make them odds on favourites here. We think the best option is a FC Dallas Win or Draw Double Chance along with a 2-2 correct score predictions.
