Toronto FC vs Houston Dynamo Predictions

Back to back wins have seen Toronto move into sixth place in the Eastern Conference and Sunday’s hosts will be confident they can make it three wins on the trot when they take on a Houston Dynamo’s side that have lost five of their last six matches. Houston Dynamo’s poor form has seen them drop out of the playoff places in the Western Conference and into eighth place but a win this weekend could lift the visitors back into the top four.

Toronto played host to New York RB on Thursday where a sixth-minute effort from Altidore opened the scoring for the Canadians, and a penalty from Pozeulo twenty-minutes later made the halftime score 2-0. Barlow pulled a goal back for New York RB in the sixty-third minute but Toronto responded well and secured all three points in the seventy-second minute when Morgan restored the hosts’ two-goal lead.

Houston Dynamo were thrashed in Georgia in midweek when they took on Atlanta United at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, finding themselves 2-0 down at the interval following first-half goals from Nagbe and Vazquez. Top scorer Martinez added two goals of his own in the during the second forty-five and Gressel netted late on to wrap up a convincing 5-0 victory for the home side.

The recent head to head record between these two clubs and both team’s form and performances over the last six weeks suggests that under 2.5 goals are likely to be scored in Sunday’s game and that Toronto are best placed to claim all three points. Three of the last five meetings between these two clubs have produced under 2.5 goals and Toronto won their last home game against Houston Dynamo 2-0. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in three of Toronto’s last four matches. Toronto have won three of their last five matches in the MLS and Houston Dynamo have lost their last eight away from home, which is why we’re backing a 2-0 win for the Canadians this weekend.

Pozuelo leads the way for Toronto this season with nine MLS goals, while Elis and Manotas joint top score for Houston Dynamo with seven league goals apiece. We’re confident that under 2.5 goals will be produced in Sunday’s match and have predicted a final scoreline of 2-0 in favour of Toronto. With the home advantage and being the form favourites, Toronto are the bookmakers’ pick to win on Sunday, and despite only winning two of their last seven matches against Houston Dynamo we are also backing the Canadians to win this weekend.
