Toronto FC vs Sporting Kansas City Predictions

Sporting KC have a very good record against hosts Toronto, but both teams head into Saturday’s match with a distinct lack of wins through the month of May. Toronto sit seventh in the Eastern Conference and could move up one place this weekend with a win, while Sporting KC’s poor start to the new campaign sees them occupying tenth spot in the Western Conference.

The Canadian derby ended all square in Vancouver, thanks to a dramatic late equaliser from the visitors. A tight and tense first half saw the teams go in goalless at the break, and despite creating the better of the chances Toronto fell behind in the eighty-fourth minute to a Montero penalty. Just when it looked like the visitors were going to lose the game substitute DeLeon popped up with a ninetieth minute equaliser to rescue Toronto a much deserved point. The game between Houston Dynamo and Sporting KC in Texas also ended 1-1 and also saw both goals scored in the second half. Croizet put the visitors Sporting KC in front in the sixty-third minute, but just six minutes later Elis equalised for the home side, and on the balance of play a point was the most Sporting KC deserved.

The head to head record between these two clubs and both teams performances in the MLS over the last few weeks, points towards Sporting KC picking up at least a point on Friday and both teams scoring. Sporting KC are unbeaten in their last nine matches against Toronto, have won four of the last six encounters between the pair, a both teams have scored in five of the last seven meetings. Toronto haven’t won any of their last six matches in the MLS, while Sporting KC have picked up one win and two draws from their last four MLS games. Both teams have scored in three of Toronto’s last five and in three of Sporting KC’s last four matches, which is why we’re backing the visitors with a double chance bet and for the scoreline to end 2-1.

Altidore and Pozuelo joint top score for the hosts this season with five goals, but the American forward is away on international duty this weekend. Németh and Russell lead the way for Sporting KC with seven goals apiece, but the Hungarian has been called-up for international duty and wont be available for selection. We’re confident that a double chance bet on the visitors will payout this weekend and have predicted a final score of 2-1 to Sporting KC. The visitors are the slight form favourites heading into kick-off and have a great record against their hosts. Toronto have a lot of key players away on international duty, and the only thing stopping us backing an out and out away on Saturday win is the fact Sporting KC have started the season poorly.
