Twente vs AZ Reserves Predictions

After Friday’s scheduled fixture away to Jong Ajax was cancelled amidst rather bizarre circumstances, Twente have the opportunity to be crowned Eerste Divisie champions on their own turf when they square off against Jong AZ on Monday afternoon. The Enschede outfit will lift the title and gain automatic promotion if they bag the three points and that should be a formality considering their opponents are third bottom and have registered just eleven points from 17 games on their travels this term.

With a torrent of Twente supporters planning to descend on Sportpark De Toekomst for a promotion party, Friday’s key match against Jong Ajax was called off at the eleventh hour and a rescheduled date and venue is still to be confirmed.

In truth, there’s unlikely to be as much hype or desire from the Twente fans to travel when it does get rearranged, as the Enschede outfit should now be crowned champions in their own backyard this Monday afternoon.

De Grolsch Veste will be packed to the rafters for what seems like an absolute formality, and although there’s sure to be a few nerves in the Twente camp with a win needed to seal the deal, they should have no trouble dispatching Jong AZ who have lost five of their last seven league games and five of their last seven outings on the road.

Twente had a bit of a wobble earlier this month with shock defeats to RKC (4-1) and Dordrecht (0-1), but they restored order on match day 35 with a slender 1-0 victory at home to Telstar, to put them on the brink of an immediate return to Eredivisie.

With seven wins from their last eight at home and a massive 49 points between these teams in the table, Marino Pusic’s men are clearly not worth touching at such skinny odds in the match betting here, but the obvious angle in is to back them to win to nil.

Six of those seven home victories have been secured without conceding, whilst Jong AZ have failed to net in four of their last six away. Although win to nil wagers are never the most comfortable for punters, this looks a solid pick for Monday’s action and well worth a two point stake. In the correct score market, 2-0 appeals as Twente rarely smash teams apart but will want to put the match to bed, whilst Jong are adept at keeping the score down – they have lost their last three away but only by a 1-0 scoreline.
