Valencia vs Alaves Predictions

  • Valencia have lost just one of their last dozen La Liga home games, winning seven.
  • Los Che are unbeaten in their last nine games against Alaves at Mestalla, winning seven.
  • Alaves have won just two of their last 14 away league games, losing nine.
  • The visitors have started the season with consecutive defeats against Real Madrid (1-4) and Mallorca (0-1).

Los Che to maintain solid start

Valencia have made a solid start to life under new boss Pepe Bordalas and Los Che are taken to grind out the three points when they entertain struggling Alaves at Mestalla this Friday night.

Off the field issues continue to cast a shadow over Valencia, though supporters should feel very optimistic about the season ahead based on how their side have performed under Bordalas’ watch in the opening two games of the campaign.

Valencia showed immense character to secure a 1-0 win over Bordalas’ former club Getafe here on Matchday 1 after being reduced to ten men early in the piece, and they battled hard at Granada last weekend to eventually rescue a point via a late Carlos Soler penalty.

Los Che are already demonstrating many of the traits synonymous with Getafe during Bordalas’ time in Madrid and we think the 57 year-old will oversee another victory this Friday night against an Alaves side who have lost their first two league games.

After being outclassed 1-4 by Real Madrid, Babazorros were woeful when turned over 0-1 by Mallorca last weekend, and they head to Mestalla this Friday having won just two of their last 14 away La Liga trips, losing nine.

Alaves have also lost seven of their last nine visits to this venue (D2), so Valencia have to be backed to prevail on Matchday 3 after losing only to Barcelona in their last dozen outings at Mestalla, winning seven.

We don’t expect there to be a huge amount between the sides in terms of the score-line as Valencia have been workmanlike in their efforts so far, so we’re going with a 1-0 correct score alongside our prediction for a home success.
