Vasco Da Gama vs Fluminense Predictions

Saturday’s Brazilian Serie A action sees local rivals Vasco da Gama and Fluminense doing battle at the Estádio São Januário. An open and exciting game is expected to be in order, with plenty of chances at both ends.

After falling to a 2-1 defeat away at Gremio in their first return to action following the Copa America break, Vasco da Gama will be itching to returning to winning ways in front of the home crowd on Saturday. Almirante had made an awful start to the season but things picked up once Vanderlei Luxemburgo came in and the side will be looking to return to the right path here.

Confidence can certainly be high in getting the job done on home soil, as Vasco have looked strong there under Luxemburgo, recording wins over Internacional and Ceara in their last two outings in front of the home crowd. Throw in the fact that the hosts are unbeaten in 8 matches against Fluminense and have won the last 3 meetings between the two and it becomes apparent that they won’t be apprehensive prior to kick off.

Nonetheless, Fluminense will provide a stern test and are a stronger side than their league position would suggest. Tricolor have been hugely unlucky in so many of their games so far but really need to start picking up results, given that they are stationed in 15th with just 9 points from 10 games.

Flu’s home draw with Ceara last time out was just yet another example of them putting in a dominant 90 minutes and letting points slip and though fans are generally remaining patient with boss Fernando Diniz, that could quickly change with a defeat in this game. As such, the visitors arrive highly motivated in securing a positive result and if they can find more of a clinical edge in attack, they are certainly capable of picking one up.

Ultimately, we’re expecting a fast paced and action packed 90 minutes. Both teams could really do with the win and bragging rights attached to it and we can’t see either sitting back. Vasco are typically an aggressive side on home soil, whereas Fluminense never alter from their attacking approach and that’ll be the case once again here.

All things considered, backing the Both Teams to Score line looks a great way to play as far as the betting is concerned and is something we’re happy to do with maximum confidence. Both nets have been hit in 4 of Vasco’s last 5 home Serie A outings, as well in 4 of Fluminense’s last 5 Serie A away games and both sequences could well be continued, with a 1-1 draw appearing on the cards.
