Vitre vs Le Havre Predictions

Le Havre currently sit 7th in Ligue 2 but have been on a pretty good run with six wins and just one loss in their last nine matches. Oswald Tanchot’s men have been flying recently and are on course to enter the play-off spots if they can keep it up. They had two tough matches recently against sides battling to stay in the division but Le Havre made sure to get the three points despite the guile of Red Star (1-0) and Valenciennes (4-3). Le Havre also managed to pull off an upset against Bordeaux in the previous round of the cup which should give them a lot of motivation ahead of this game as they won’t want to slip up against a fourth division side after the heroics against the Ligue 1 side.

They have been fantastic going forward with 24 goals in their last twelve games but the defensive side of their play definitely has to be ironed out as they conceded eleven times in that period. Alimami Gory has nine goals for the season and is their top scorer but this side is definitely a bit top heavy, which is why they have failed to progress in the league. Le Havre do have a pretty solid away record ahead of their trip to Brittany with just one loss in their last five on the road but will this be enough to win them the match?

Vitré aren’t doing so well in the Championnat National 2 as they are just a point above the relegation zone. However, they have improved as of late with just one loss in their last ten matches in all competitions. Their defence has definitely sorted itself out as they have kept six clean sheets in this period but they are having a real problem scoring, hence them drawing the most matches in the league this season. Each of their last three games have finished level with them requiring penalties to progress past amateur side Longeau in the previous round of the cup.

Le Havre are drawn for least goals scored in the league with 15 after 16 games. However, their home record is just one loss in their last ten at the Stade Municipal de Vitré, although this stat slightly flatters them as they have drawn five of these games. We think Vitré will offer a lot of defensive solidity in this match but with Le Havre on a good run, and after their cup victory in Bordeaux, we’re backing the visitors to win 2-0.
