Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both of these teams have scored in all of their league games so far this season and they can both keep that run going on Friday.  Burnley have scored in each of their last 10 competitive outings and also scored in all of their pre-season games, while Watford have only failed to score in one of their last five at home so we’re expecting goals at both ends.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Burnley have created 29 chances across two games this season, while Watford have plenty of attacking talent so this could well be a high-scoring affair.  These two promotion contenders won’t want to lose ground on a direct rival so the spoils could be shared and a 2-2 draw appeals.

Ismaila Sarr To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Ismaila Sarr scored a stunning goal against West Brom last time out and also has an assist to his name this term in two appearances.  Sarr did miss from the spot against the Baggies, but can make amends by continuing his fine form with a goal against the Clarets.

Watford vs Burnley Predictions

  • Watford have scored in both of their league games so far, as have Burnley.
  • Burnley have scored in each of their last 10 competitive games and they also scored in all of their pre-season fixtures.
  • Watford have only failed to score in one of their last five at home.

Relegated duo meet at Vicarage Road

Two of the teams relegated from the Premier League last season meet in the Championship on Friday as Watford entertain Burnley at Vicarage Road.

Both of these teams have settled in well to life in the second tier with four points from two games so far, and all the teams they have faced could all be in the promotion mix come the end of the campaign.

Burnley had the better of the two meetings between these teams last season as they won the corresponding fixture 2-1 in April after a 0-0 draw at Turf Moor earlier in the campaign. However, there are new managers in place at both clubs and there have been plenty of changes to the two respective squads over the intervening months so those games may not give the best indication of what could happen on Friday.

Both teams capable of scoring

These teams have identical records have won their respective openers 1-0 before following that up with 1-1 draws. As Watford and the Clarets have scored in all of their games so far, admittedly after just two rounds of games, both teams to score looks a good starting point for this game.

Burnley have in fact scored in each of their last 10 competitive games stretching back into last season and they also managed goals in their two pre-season assignments. Watford did struggle for goals during their own pre-season campaign but they have scored in each of their last four competitive outings and they’ve only failed to score in one of their last five at home.

Little to separate Clarets and Hornets duo

New Burnley boss Vincent Kompany has settled in quickly at Turf Moor and the Clarets are perhaps unlucky not to have a maximum haul of six points on the board. The Lancashire outfit have dominated both of their games so far, and I expect them to get a point at Watford.

Watford rode their luck a bit in a 1-1 draw at West Brom but still managed to take a point and they do have some quality attacking players – most notably Ismaila Sarr, who has a goal and an assist to his name already, and Emmanuel Dennis.

None of the games involving these two teams have produced over 2.5 goals yet this season but they have been creating plenty of chances – particularly Burnley who have had 29 shots across their last two games – so we may see a few goals on Friday and a 2-2 draw looks to have a chance as our correct score bet.

Sarr has made an impressive start to the season, and after scoring a sublime effort in the draw with West Brom last time out looks a good contender for a goal at anytime despite the fact he also missed from the spot against the Baggies.
