Wigan vs Rotherham Predictions

Rotherham can finish season on a high note

For the first time since the 2016-17 campaign, Rotherham will spend consecutive seasons in the same division after securing survival in this term’s Championship and they can round out a decent campaign with victory away to relegated Wigan.

Hakeem Odoffin’s strike saw Rotherham over the line in a 1-0 win against ten-man Middlesbrough last time out, ensuring the club will be in the Championship next season.

The same cannot, however, be said for Wigan, who go into their final match of the season in 24th spot with only 41 points collected from 45 games.

Off-field issues have meant Wigan’s players were given training off on Saturday and they are unlikely to be up for this one with Rotherham a solid bet to win.

Although they were also in the relegation mix, Rotherham have shown moments of promise in the last couple of months, beating West Brom and Middlesbrough and drawing with Norwich and Burnley.

And given Wigan have the worst home record in the Championship this term, having won only five of their 22 games at the DW Stadium, a bet on Rotherham to win could be the way to go.

Wigan’s goal return of 38 in 45 matches is also pretty underwhelming, so go for Rotherham to come out on top 2-0.
