Willem II vs ADO Den Haag Predictions

Willem II and Den Haag sit one place apart in the Eredivisie table, each with sixteen points from their fifteen league games this season, and the pair go head to head at the Koning Willem II Stadion in Friday nights Eredivisie action. Both teams sit in the bottom half of the table with minus goal differences and could really do with a win and a clean sheet on Friday.

Last time out Willem II were smashed 5-1 in their own backyard by another of the mid table sides, Heerenveen. Mihajlović opened the scoring for the visitors in the fifteenth minute, but Willem II replied two minutes later through Akkaynak to make it 1-1. However, Heerenveen lead at the break thanks to a late first half penalty for which full back Heerkens was sent-off and Rienstra coolly converted from twelve yards. Heerenveen dominated the second forty-five scoring three more goals through Vlap and a brace from van Bergen to wrap up a well deserved victory. Willem II were poor last weekend both in terms of chances created and their defensive performance, and must improve on Friday or risk losing again.

Den Haag were left frustrated by newly promoted De Graafschap last weekend, as the pair played out a goalless draw. The hosts had 63% of the overall possession and thirteen shots during the ninety minutes, but just could not beat Jurjus, nor his half time replacement Etemadi, in the De Graafschap goal. Den Haag moved onto level points with Willem II thanks to that draw, but really should have leapfrogged Friday nights hosts by beating De Graafschap.

When the two teams last played one another back in February Den Haag played the role of hosts and deservedly took home all three points after a commanding display. Willem II took the lead in the fortieth minute through top scorer Fran Sol and lead at the half time interval. Norwegian striker Johnsen equalised for the hosts in the sixty-ninth minute and star player El Khayati held his nerve in stoppage time to convert a penalty which earned Den Haag all three points.

Neither side can claim to be in good form heading into Friday’s game, but with three wins and three defeats from their last six matches, Willem II are the form favourites. Fran Sol has scored twelve league goals for the hosts this season and is enjoying another very impressive season in front of goal. Simile, El Khayati has netted ten Eredivisie goals for Den Haag from a deeper position that Sol, with both teams almost entirely relying on their leading goalscorers to win them points so far this season.

We’re confident that both teams will score and over 2.5 goals will be produced on Friday, and have backed Den Haag to claim a narrow 2-1 win. Den Haag have won their last five matches against Willem II, while four of the last six encounters between the two clubs have seen both teams score and the last three meetings have produced over 2.5 goals. Three of Willem II’s last four and three of Den Haag’s last six matches have seen both teams score and produce over 2.5 goals.
