Basement boys Schalke are worth opposing

Wolfsburg were downed 2-1 by Hoffenheim last time out but they deserved more from that contest and they can get back to winning ways at home to Schalke this weekend.

Oliver Glasner’s men saw 62 per cent of the ball and won the shout count 18-9 against Hoffenheim last time out and were unlucky to come away from the game with nothing but they nonetheless still occupy a Champions League spot in the Bundesliga.

They have still lost only three league games all term and remain unbeaten at home in the Bundesliga, winning seven and drawing four of their 11 games at the Volkswagen Arena.

And the league’s basement boys Schalke, who have managed only one win from their 24 Bundesliga contests this term, are unlikely to spring a surprise.

The Gelsenkirchen outfit were hammered 4-0 by Borussia Dortmund and 5-1 by Stuttgart recently and could be set for another thrashing. 

Punters are advised to back Wolfsburg at -1 goal on the handicap and we predict a 3-0 win for the home side.
