      Wolverhampton vs Cardiff Predictions

To say that Wolves’ return to the Premier League has been a success would be an understatement. As we approach the business end of the season the Midlands club sit way up in 8th position, and look to be the main challengers alongside Watford for the potential Europa League qualification spot of 7th. Not only that, but they have set themselves up for an FA Cup quarter final against Manchester United in March.

That being said, they didn’t have the best of evenings in midweek when they faced the lowly Huddersfield. They were up against a side sitting rock bottom of the Premier League who hadn’t won a game since November, but somehow they managed to lose to the Terriers. Fittingly, this was their first win since they beat Wolves at Molineux 3 months ago.

Wolves’ 5 match unbeaten streak in the Premier League ended with that defeat, but they will be expected to return to winning ways on Saturday when they face a Cardiff side who look to be falling apart.

The Bluebirds were well beaten at the hands of Everton in midweek, losing 3-0 to follow on from a dreadful 5-1 thrashing at home to Watford last Friday. They have now lost 5 of their last 8 Premier League games, and with relegation rivals around them finding some form this puts them in real danger.

One thing Cardiff have improved on since their dismal start to life in the Premier League is their goalscoring form. They have scored in 4 of their last 5 league games and in 5 of their last 7 trips away in the top flight.

Conversely, Wolves’ early season defensive stability seems to have abandoned them recently. They have conceded in 10 of their last 11 Premier League outings and in 8 of their last 10 home matches. This, combined with Cardiff’s decent attacking record, makes backing Both Teams to Score look a great option on Saturday along with a 2-1 win for favourites Wolves.

We’re backing Raul Jimenez to be the man behind at least one of the goals. The Mexican forward has scored 7 of his 10 league goals at Molineux this season and has found the net 4 times in their last 5 league games, so backing him looks a good choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
