Wolves vs Rotherham Predictions

Wolves are under enormous pressure to pick up the win here. They are now just one place and one point above the drop-zone and with an awful home record, there will be a lot of nerves around Molineux on Saturday. If recent Rotherham games are anything to go by, it could be the 2nd Half when Wolves’ superior quality shows.

No Championship side has picked up fewer points at home this season than Wolves. They did get a point at Ipswich on Tuesday to at least end a 6 game losing streak but these are worrying times for Paul Lambert’s side. Over the course of the season Wolves have tended to score the majority of their goals after the interval. 79% of their home goals and 68% of their goals overall have come in the 2nd Half and that suggests they shouldn’t panic if things don’t immediately go their way here.

With only 2 goals in their last 6 matches, Wolves aren’t exactly in great touch in front of goal but against a Rotherham side that has conceded a shocking 2.89 goals per away game this term, they should be able to find a breakthrough. Their forwards haven’t been in great touch in front of goal but Helder Costa is a genuine threat and has 8 goals to his name already. The 23 year old is also on penalty duty and backing Helder Costa to score first at 4/1 could be worth a punt here.

Rotherham have been competitive in the 1st Half of their recent games but have tended to fall apart after the interval. There have been more goals in the 2nd Half than the 1st in all of their last 13 matches. The opposition has scored most of those goals and they’ve conceded a huge 25 goals in the final 15 minutes of matches this term. 63% of their goals conceded overall have come after the break.

The Millers should be able to restrict a Wolves side that is low on confidence for a while here. The hosts may have to take a few risks in the end to try and force the win they badly need, and you can never feel confident about Rotherham holding firm for 90 minutes so backing Half with Most Goals – 2nd Half at Evens looks like a decent bet here.
