Wrexham vs Halifax Predictions

  • Wrexham have lost only one of their league games at home this season.
  • Halifax town have lost only one of their last ten away league games.
  • Fewer than three goals have been scored in six of the last seven Halifax Town away contests.

Promotion rivals will be neck and neck at Racecourse Ground

Fourth-placed Wrexham and third-placed Halifax look so evenly matched at the moment that Tuesday’s National League clash could well finish as a draw.  Only four points separate these clubs in the table, so the winner of this clash at the Racecourse Ground may well go on to be the higher finisher in the end-of-season standings.

Wrexham saw their seven-game winning run ended by Bromley in a 0-0 away draw last weekend. There were chances for both teams in that, but a worrying development for the Dragons was the loss of first-choice goalkeeper Rob Lainton to injury. He was stretchered off midway through the second half and is almost certainly out of Tuesday’s clash with the Shaymen.

Halifax picked up their fifth straight win by ending Torquay’s seven-game unbeaten run in west Yorkshire, but the 2-0 margin was probably not a fair reflection of affairs. The Shay men were forced to dig in during the first 45 minutes and only managed their first shot of the game just before the break.

Halifax have form for low-scoring draws

Their recent results – which include two away wins in their last three – suggest they could be a bit too big in the odds to pick up all three points, but the lacklustre showing on Saturday has us leaning towards a draw in match result betting.

Backing Halifax in the double chance market also seems a stretch given Wrexham have lost only once at home in the league all season. But there may well be some additional value in taking a low-scoring draw here.

Fewer than three goals have been scored in six of the last seven Halifax Town away contests, three of which have finished as 1-1 draws so that is going to be our correct score prediction for this Tuesday’s promotion scrap.
